Langille Ridge is a trail that includes exposure along cliffs, narrow singletrack and loose rock.
Langille Ridge can be done as an out-and-back to
Boundary Trail #1 or combined with other roads and trails in the area.
Out-and-Back Option:
Start at the north end and run up a tough climb through dense stands of forest. Around the two-mile mark, the route opens up and gains the ridgeline as the the trail skirts Langille Peak.
The route continues on the ridge and then drops a bit on the east side, passing a spring and small pond before the intersection with the
McCoy Peak Trail #259A. Continue straight here and drop into a forest mixed with noble fir and hemlock.
Stay right at the intersection with
Rough Trail #283 to continue on Langille Ridge to the intersection with
Boundary Trail #1. Return via the same route.
Loop/Shuttle Option:
Start on FR 2900 at the bottom of
Rough Trail #283 and run south up to
Boundary Trail #1. Turn right and endure a steep climb to Langille Ridge. Turn right again and head north. Climb gradually through forest before the grade steepens for one last big climb.
A nice descent follows, taking you to the intersection with
Rough Trail #283. Stay right here to enjoy a final exciting downhill to FR 2900.
