Description

Phosphate Hill Trail is one of the newer trails in the Dutch Hollow trail network. The trail can be done as a loop with Prospector Trail from Pine Canyon or Dutchman Way.

The loop is a mix of moderate climbing and descending with some very mild rougher sections. The northern side of the loop is a moderate (occasionally steep) climb via many switchbacks, up and over a steep mountain ridge. Once on the east side, you'll experience smoother surface through maple forest.

The western side provides a change of vegetation with freer slopes covered in oak brush. There are also more turns and the tread can be a bit loose, making for slippery footing.

On the south side of the route, the trail follows a mostly level contour (only a couple up and downs) with nice views of Midway and Burgi Hill.
