Runner Notes

This is excellent running if you're in the area. While of course nothing like the scenic wonders of the mountains that surround Seattle, this is the perfect quick escape that minimizes your need to drive out of town.

Description

With over 20 miles of mostly paved trail uninterrupted by cars or streets, this is a remarkable achievement in a huge swath of heavy development. To one side, you'll find a peaceful slow river, large trees, picnic tables, and a series of lovely small parks. To the other side, you'll find the backside of enormous warehouses, shipping distribution centers, big box retailers, and banal corporate headquarters (hi there REI HQ!).

Regardless of what you focus on, it's undeniable that you can get a great escape cutting through a large part of King County. This really is a great place to enjoy a tad bit of nature, and a peaceful break from the urbanity in all directions.

Flora & Fauna

Osprey nests can be found along the entire trail.

Pretty shady trail and I don’t mean no sun, I mean scary...lots of homeless individuals. Not sure I would run this route again. 6mi
