Description

This trail starts at the end of the Little Mare Trail and goes straight up Brushy Mountain for short but very steep climb. Follow the blue blazes. Once at the top, it's all downhill! The trail opens up into an old forest fire area that is now covered in blueberry bushes. Stop for a sweet treat when in season.

The trail is steep but pretty smooth (there are some rockier sections though) as it weaves down the mountain and eventually pops out on a fire road. Take the road to the right to continue the downward track. The singletrack trail will then be on the right and dive back down into the trees with Blue and yellow blazes. The singletrack will come to an overgrown doubletrack road, stay left on the yellow blaze. The trail will come to an opening with wood gates/fence on the right and a less traveled trail bearing left. Take a right turn to pop out on the Smith Creek road.

Southern end of Little Mare Mountain Trail, where it meets Brushy Ridge Trail. This small section is seldom hiked, never biked, as a better route via the Nature Conservancy land exists.
