Overview

This moderate loop is a great way for runners who don't want to embark on the full Blue Mountain Trail loop, but who still want to enjoy some of Stokes State Forests highlights.

Description

This loop is a shorter version of the Blue Mountain Trail, using the Tinsley Trail to cut over from the west side of the Blue Mountain Trail to the east side. Follow the blue markers for about 6.5 miles, and head east following the yellow markers for 2 miles, until you see the blue markers again. The full trail is 17.3 mile, this route is 11.4. The start is close the the park office.

This is not a difficult run, but some stretches have many boulders, which can be slippery when wet. You'll enjoy great views of lakes and and make your way along (and across) beautiful streams. In the five hours it took me to complete this loop, I did not see a single person.

Trail not always obvious because of leaves. Lots of rocks on trail, definitely have to beware with the leaves. 13.7mi
