Description

Also known as Trail 2E35, this trail leaves from Highway 243 at a small dirt parking lot 1.3 miles south of the Vista Grande Fire Station. The trail begins in chaparral at 5140 feet and ends on the forested slopes of Black Mountain (7772 ft) at the Lookout Tower. The trail maintains a steady climb to Black Mountain with occasional reliefs that lighten the load on your legs. The trail itself is fairly well maintained and consists of packed dirt and, at times, loose gravel. Runners should keep an eye on the trail and where it goes. The trail is not marked and, in a few spots, it can be easy to lose the trail. Use the Trail Run Project mobile app to help find your way.

There are excellent views of Banning Pass and Mt. San Gorgonio.
