This trail system is in a multiuse National Forest area. During hunting seasons, primarily deer and turkey (spring), you should wear BLAZE ORANGE. All forest users are expected to wear blaze during hunting seasons. There are not a lot of hunters in this area but there are some. A blaze vest or shirt ensures your visibility. Rangers are emphatic that all trail users need to comply with this safety rule.
Description
This trail is the most remote of all the trails in the system and perhaps because of that it has a sense of wildness about it. It's a challenging trail that runs between Pigeon Roost Rd to the east and Lost Cemetery Rd at the steel bridge across the Noxubee River to the west. From the steel bridge the trail turns immediately to the left. The trail follows the river and then a creek for about 1/4 mile to another bridge.
Soon the trail begins a half mile climb into the hills. There are three switchbacks on this hill and it is a long climb for a trail in Mississippi. The abundant long blue ribbons seen in numerous places along the early part of this trail represent areas where there are rare or endangered plants. The terrain remains hilly for the remainder of this trail.
With the exception of about one quarter mile of forest road immediately after the initial climb, this trail is entirely singletrack, some of which is narrow with tight turns. The trail goes through mostly open hardwood forest. There are several creek crossings that have been hardened with gravel and geotiles. Blue Trails A, B, C and D all connect this trail with either Lost Cemetery Rd or the eastern part of Rockcrusher Rd thereby allowing users to customize the distance they cover.
