Description
To access this trail, head into the park to the main parking lot near the entrance. The trail can be used either direction but is mapped here heading south first.
The Great Escape Trail is a nice 6.5 mile singletrack loop trail that encircles most of the Muleshoe Bend Recreation Area. The trail rolls along numerous ups and downs, weaves around hairpin turns, and offers scenic views of the lake. This is a great trail to use in the summer as it is mostly shaded by cedar and mesquite trees. During spring time, the trail is lined by beautiful Texas wildflowers.
The trail surface ranges from limestone and compressed dirt, to gravel washouts and sand.
This is a multi-use trail and is becoming popular with mountain bikers. Please stay alert while on the trails and be respectful of all users.
Flora & Fauna
You can expect to see whitetail deer, jack rabbits, lizards, snakes, and the occasional grey fox and coyote.
