Runner Notes
Be aware that near the Furmanova Peak there are a lot of unstable stones on the slope.
Description
To access this trail, you can take Bus #12 from the Hotel "Kazakhstan" (first bus 7:15 a.m. / last from Medeo 8:40 p.m.). Alternatively you can park a car at the public parking lot at the start of the trail.
From the parking lot, the trail will start out heading uphill. The grade is moderate at first, but steepens over the length of the trail. At about 1.4 miles there is a mountain spring where you can refill your water (you may still want to treat it).
After mile two, the grade gets much steeper, and the track becomes more difficult. Near the summit of Furmanovka Peak there is a section of trail that reaches a 50% grade. It might be tough getting to the summit, but there are nice views along the trail.
The majority of the trail surface is dirt, but there are quite a few areas with rocks or a rocky surface.
Take at least 1.5 liters of water. You can refill it at the spring if you need to, but there is no other water on the trail.
Flora & Fauna
Thyme, oregano, nettle, dog rose, barberry, raspberry.
