Nice running trail of at least 95% of the trail.

At 2,874 feet, St. Regis does not qualify as one of the ADK 46ers, but it is one of the Saranac Lake 6ers and part of the Fire Tower Challenge. This trail can be attempted year round, but winter runners should use microspikes and snowshoes.

From the road to Spectacle Ponds, the trail begins with gentle elevation in a hardwood forest with a lot of typical Adirondack glacial rock that seems to just pop up out of the ground. As you continue to run following the yellow markers, the trail gradually gets steeper. Eventually, you begin climbing a stone staircase that will take you just about to the summit.

At 3.4 miles, you reach the mostly bald summit that has great views. There is a fire tower that has been restored and is open to the public. Though the stairs up the tower may seem scary to some, it is well worth overcoming the fear to enjoy the extended view from the tower.

Plenty of parking is located on Keese Mills Road in Keese Mill, west of Paul Smith's College.
