Description

This trail makes up part of the Big Tree Loop and begins near the intersection of the Arenas Valley: Fence Line Trail and Woodhaul Wagon Road Trail #55. The Sawmill National Historic Trail can be taken all the way to the Continental Divide Trail in order to summit Twin Sisters mountain peaks and gain the rock bridge that connects these two mountain peaks.

However, as the trail gets closer to Twin Sisters it becomes progressively harder to follow and has areas of serious damage and slick rock fall. Extreme care should be taken in these areas as it can be easy to get turned around, lost or injured. Use of the Trail Run Project mobile app is recommended.

As always in this trail system, be watchful for horseback riding along this trail.
