Description

Starting from the Metz Visitors Center, this trail heads west through dense hardwood forests rich with maple, oak, sassafras, and cherry. The trail passes numerous trail junctions, the last of which being with the Grasslands Trail, to eventually reach a fork with itself. Follow the trail left to take the best route as you wind your way about the loop to end at the same fork.

Along the way, take time to enjoy both overlooks as you search out the nearby tributary to the Ottawa River. When you've had your fill, follow the trail left again at the fork to return the way you came past the Grasslands Trail, Prairie Trail, and Floodplain Trail to reach the visitor center.
