Runner Notes
You may find yourself hiking more than running, but this trail provides a great option for those looking to find some big vert in an area of relatively flat trails otherwise. The descent offers a fun, technical challenge as well, just watch your footing as areas can be loose & rocky.
Description
A true summit run, this steep & rocky trail, while challenging, is worth it for the views.
Midland Hill Trail begins climbing immediately, & although it does flatten out & even drop in a few spots, doesn't relent much, with some of the steepest climbing near the summit. The trail is pretty straightforward, but stay alert for the numerous switchbacks as you climb.
Once you reach the summit, you'll be rewarded with 360 degree views, with
Mt. Princeton & the Sawatch Range to the west, & the Fourmile Recreation Area to the north & east.
Flora & Fauna
Deer, lizards, mountain lions.
