Description
Starting from the parking lot at the visitor center, head north around the building to pick up the trail. The trail winds down a gentle slope before leveling off all the way to the lake.
Along the way, you'll see small shrubs and lots of sandy dirt. Don't let that dissuade you from continuing your journey! The prize isn't too far away, and you'll be rewarded with some of the best views of Mono Lake.
At 1.3 miles, the trail splits and heads right along a fantastic boardwalk that gets close to the lake without disturbing the delicate ecosystem that surrounds this surreal landscape. A left at the junction takes you on
Mono Lake Trail Connector which leads to a parking lot.
Flora & Fauna
Mice and a variety of birds including the magnificent Osprey that nest on the tufa in the lake!
