At mile 1.5, cross a creek on a sturdy wooden plank.

There are a few forks in the road along the way, with no signage. Follow the route on the Trail Run Project mobile app if you want to follow this trail specifically.

Forest Road #16N52 is a scenic doubletrack option above the Rise and Shine Downhill (#18E18). The route travels through huge pines and open forest with views of Lake Tahoe through the trees (starting around mile 1). There is a small pull-out area to park at the side of the road.

The incline is very gradual - you barely notice you're going uphill. This is a great easy run! Around mile 2 or 2.5, be sure to take a little detour off the trail to get a sweeping vista of Lake Tahoe.

Another option...From the parking area north of King's Beach you can run up FS Road #16N86 and FS Road #16N52, FS Road #16N66, FS Road #16N55 to the Tahoe Rim: Brockway to Wilderness Boundary, making a long and scenic loop.
