Bicycles are not permitted (neither ridden nor walked) through the Historic portion of the Riverwalk (downtown).
Description
Wending alongside the San Antonio River, through old neighborhoods and farmlands, this multi-use path provides respite from the daily pressure and grind of city life.
This easy path makes for a scenic run along the San Antonio River through the heart of downtown. The paved path makes this route accessible to many, and the route is especially popular with runners in the early mornings. However, no matter the time of day, you're sure to see other walkers, runners, and cyclist out and about, enjoying the path.
Parking is available at the Pearl Amphitheater or Blue Star. Bathrooms are available at the Pearl Amphitheater and Brooklyn Ave locks and dam. Use the steps up to street level to continue south across Commerce and Market streets, then you can use the steps to return to the river level.
The trail can be crowded with casual runners afternoons and evenings, and market days at the Pearl on Saturday mornings.
While the San Antonio
River Walk boasts over 11 linear miles of continuous trail along the river from the King William District to Mission Espada, the trail can be accessed from multiple points for shorter runs, making this an easy run, suitable for beginners or even young members of the family.
