Description

This is a get-out-of-the-house kind of trail as it follows a 4WD road to an ancient channel of the Lake Bonneville Flood. The trail starts alongside a good dirt road and proceeds up a road suitable for OHV's but little else. After about 200 yards, you begin to start seeing the potholes that were formed when the channel made a whirlpool around the surrounding basalt cliffs, turning large boulders of basalt lava around the bottom where they were ground down to dust and carried away. What is left is varying stages of this event. The actual trail stops at the edge of the first pothole, but a quick side trip gets you to the top of the ancient channel for some views east toward the beautiful desert or west toward the Snake River Canyon.
