Description

The Yellowstone / Grand Teton Rail Trail is officially 104 miles from end to end and is part of our Idaho State Park and Recreational Trailway system. In reality, it is composed of 3 remaining run-able sections with miles of highway, forest service roads and farm roads connecting the three. As of Nov 2017, these 3 sections will provide you with 78.4 miles of "Rail Trail".

You can expect beautiful wooded areas on the northern end and waves farmland and a few trestles on the Southern end of the Rail Trail. You can also expect to enjoy an ever-changing view of the Teton Mountain Range.

The Oregon Pacific Rail lines were established to provide tourist access to the Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in 1908 and 1913.

The running surface is dirt and gravel but obviously, maintain easy RR grades throughout.

THIS SECTION: Flat and straight. Great views of the traffic on Highway 33.
