Overview
USA Today Travel named Circle B Bar one of the 51 best places to see wildlife, alligators, ducks, snakes, armadillos, bald eagles, ospreys, and a huge variety of birds and 45 species of butterflies. This 2.7-mile round trip takes you on a portion of the six miles of trails through some spectacular marshes and swamps.
Need to Know
There are a lot of alligators and it is always possible they could be on or near a trail. Also bicycles are allowed on some of the trails.
Runner Notes
Easy place to run, just watch for alligators.
Description
The trail starts near a paved parking area and Visitor Center with bathrooms and picnic shelters nearby. You'll travel on four different connected trails that are very flat and easy. The trails in order are
Heron Hideout,
Eagle Roost,
Wading Bird Way, and
Marsh Rabbit Run.
Bring a camera and or binoculars as you won't be disappointed. On the weekends, the main parking lot can fill up and the trails are more crowded but it can still be a great experience.
Flora & Fauna
Alligators, ducks, snakes, armadillos, bald eagles, ospreys, white ibis, roseate spoonbills, sandhill cranes, and a huge variety of migrating and native birds and 45 species of butterflies.
