Terrace Trail starts and ends along
Aptos Rancho Trail. It can also be reached on its north section by
Vienna Woods Trail. Additionally, the Terrace Trail Connection from
Oak Ridge Trail, accesses the southern portion of Terrace Trail.
From its southern trailhead along
Aptos Rancho Trail, Terrace Trail descends to cross Aptos Creek almost immediately. Picking up the trail on the other (west) side of the creek, the trail goes through reeds and other dense creekside vegetation as it begins its climb away from the creek. This creekside vegetation soon gives way to redwoods as the trail climbs.
At the 0.2 mile mark, an unmarked trail junction is reached. Go right (north) here to continue on Terrace Trail. Alternatively, going left (south) here puts one on Terrace Trail Connection that leads to
Oak Ridge Trail.
Heading north now, Terrace Trail travels through the redwoods with Aptos Creek to the right (east) of the trail. The trail is flat, well shaded, and easy to follow. At the 0.65 mile mark, a well-marked
Vienna Woods Trail junction is reached. Go right here, and almost immediately come to a very noticeable, BUT unmarked 4-way trail junction. To continue on Terrace Trail, go as straight as possible here. Do NOT bear hard left, as that will take you back to the marked trail junction that you just passed. Do NOT go hard right, because that will put you on a continuation of
Vienna Woods Trail.
Continuing on Terrace Trail, the trail soon descends down to Aptos Creek, and crosses it. After crossing the creek, Terrace Trail climbs to
Aptos Rancho Trail, where Terrace Trail ends. This northern Terrace Trail trailhead on
Aptos Rancho Trail is well marked.
Redwood trees, ferns, and other lush vegetation.
