Description

This paved Harris County Parks hike and bike trail runs along the outside of the dam and through the reservoir to connect east Katy with west Houston.

The trail begins near the intersection of Briar Forest and State Highway 6. The trail runs north along the outside of the dam with access to Terry Hershey Park at Buffalo Bayou. The trail then turns west until Barker-Clodine. From the dam crossing, the trail runs south about one half mile on Barker-Clodine, which is a quiet two-lane road shared with motor vehicles. The route then returns to a paved trail, running south through the reservoir, crossing Buffalo Bayou before turning west to end at Fry Road.

There is parking at Highway 6, at South Barker-Cypress, and in George Bush Park where the trail turns west. Smash and grab vehicle burglaries are common in these parking lots, so don't leave valuables in your vehicle.
