A permit is required to park and run in the Pequannock Watershed where this trail is located. The permit is good for one calendar year (regardless of when you purchase it) and costs $14.00.
Description
Starting from Clinton Road and parking spot "P4" the trail shares the same path as the Highland Trail (light blue markers). The Clinton West Trail (white markers) meanders through a brief low area before it starts a steep climb.
Watch for a large pile of rocks on the right side of the trail identifying where the Clinton West Trail turns left and the Highland Trail continues straight.
After the left turn, the trail travels south along a ridge. After arriving at a high point, the trail descends steeply and then makes a hard right turn along Clinton Reservoir. The trail follows the shoreline until it ends at a Beaver dam.
This trail is often done as part of a loop run like the Buckabear
Pond Loop via Bearfort Waters - Clinton Trail
