This trail starts at the end of Campground Loop at the off-camber section on the south side of Lake Fairfax. From there it traverses down the side of the hill before entering into a gravel loop area. Keep right to continue on the Ampitheater Trail.

The trail climbs out and opens out onto a gravel road. Continue straight across the gravel road to stay on the Ampitheater Trail. The trail keeps climbing until it appears to come alongside a road approximately 20 feet from the trail. Keep left at the fork to stay on the Ampitheater Trail (to the right is the Pumptrack Connector).

Shortly aftwerwards, the trail crosses a steep hill clearing created as a gas-line right of way. Continue straight across the clearing to stay on the trail. After a root-filled switchback, you'll encounter another fork in the trail. Taking a sharp left at this fork will take you back towards the lake, while a slight right turn will eventually lead you to a road crossing, after which the trail ends at an intersection with Rails to River Trail.
