This trail is the most accessible and fastest route to the overlook. There are still steps to navigate at the beginning of the parking lot, but the view is well worth the climb. After you visit the overlook, you can then connect to one of the many trails in this area to make a day of it. The trail also gives you access to the ruins of the Civil War fortifications along the ridgetop with excellent interpretive signage along the way.
