The road is closed during the winter months, but only if there is snow. Please remember that nobody lives in the Ambria village anymore (except for the summer). Bring food and water with you.
Description
The Vedello-Ambria Road is in good condition (except for the winter). The road starts from the small hydroelectric power plant facing the Vedello old village. After crossing the Venina creek, it turns to the right and with a few twists starts climbing to gain elevation. With a small tunnel, the road intersects the huge rusty pressure pipes that bring water from the Venina lake to the Vedello hydroelectric power plant.
After the climb, the road enters the valley and becomes less steep. At the end of the road, there is parking where the locals can leave their cars (the Ambria village is not accessible by car, the streets are too narrow). The village offers some interesting examples of alpine architecture and a little church erected in 1615.
