Description

This is best done with a shuttle up and run back down. A shuttle up for sunrise is a very popular option.

**We recommend that we coordinate a taxi for you leaving at 4am from the lodge, it will be 120soles (May 2013), and should have you there for 6am in time to see sunrise on Huascaran 6,768m, Huandoy 6,395m, Pisco 5,752m, Chacaraju 6,112m and Chopicalqui mountains 6,354m. The taxi will drop you off just in front of the pass without going through it. This is the spot to watch sunrise from if you are in time. (If you wanted to get higher for photos you can follow this path up to the left for 3 minutes until you reach the edge of the pass. The original path was cut through by the road and you can see its remnants on the other side. Follow this path down to the start of your trek heading around the mountain to the left.)**
