The Climbing Trail is used for going up Sunrise Peak; to go back down one should use the Descending Trail. This is a short, and very steep trail. The going is made much easier thanks to stairs, rest areas, and railings. The bottom section of the trail is paved, and fairly wide to help accommodate the crowds.
Higher up, the paving stops and is replaced with wooden stairs and boardwalks. A few sections require actually running on the volcanic rock. This is a beautiful trail that passes though some massive volcanic rock spires and offers excellent views the whole way up. The top is of course the highlight: great views of the UNESCO World Heritage tuff cone volcano's crater.
