Description
This trail encircles a 1,015 acre urban lake that is exceptional for sailing, paddling, rowing and SUP. Your run can really be started from just about any point around the lake. The lake is completely surrounded by lovely old neighborhoods and small streets that provide access to numerous parking areas. The trail is very well marked at every turn, and you'll likely not be alone at any point on your journey. Weekdays are usually the be the best time to enjoy this route, as weekends tend to draw a lot of cyclists, as well as events that are being held around the lake.
The trail varies from single width to street, but most is a double-wide paved surface. Along the way, this route passes by several points of interest including the White Rock Lake Museum, Bath House Cultural Center, the Dallas Arboretum, an Audubon Society bird watching area, wetlands, parks, picnic areas, boat houses, and several kayak concessionaires. If you are in need a quick dose of the outdoors and don't want to travel far, then this is the trail for you—close, accessible, and very well maintained.
