The area is frequently used by bikers, so stay alert and respect other users.

They say High Mountain was the first piece of land Henry Hudson saw when entering Hudson Bay. It should be mentioned that High Mountain can be seen from many other viewpoints on trails to the west like Norvin Green.

The Yellow Trail starts at the trailhead off Reservoir Road. It winds through the forest, crossing the Red-Blazed Trail about 0.7 miles along. The trail climbs uphill out of the valley (there is one steeper section) to High Mountain. As the trail levels off, you'll head east across a field.

When you get to the top of High Mountain, there are two viewpoints looking east (the first is closer to the edge, the second is higher up). The trail then descends (down one steeper section) for about 0.3 mile. From here the trail stays fairly level to its terminus at the Red-Blazed Trail.

NOTE: last August the Yellow trail continued on to the west, but at Reservoir Rd where the trail goes back into the woods the blazes have been repainted in orange. The orange section is still Yellow on the park maps.

Have seen deer and hawks.
