Description

This run begins at a small parking area on the B8083 road west of the hamlet of Kilmarie. It starts near sea level, climbs over the Am Mam Pass at 620 ft, and ends at sea level in an isolated bay near the Camasunary Lodge.

The first half mile is a peaceful run through a sheep pasture, with the more difficult climb up the pass looming in front of you. You'll pass a small creek before the steep, rocky climb begins. You'll climb 450 feet in a little over a half mile on loose rocks at times. Behind you, you'll find a magnificent view of Loch Slapin and Loch Eishort (inlets to the Atlantic Ocean) and the opposite shore of Skye.

At the pass, a magnificent view of the Cuillin Mountains opens up. Loch na Creitheach lies in the valley below, which drains into the Atlantic Ocean. A rowdy descent, at times on loose rocks, takes you to sea level where there is a small secluded beach.

There's a derelict cabin at the bottom along with the more modern Camasunary Lodge. You can't miss the Glen Sligachan trail to your right, as directions are painted on the side of the derelict cabin.

This is one of the two "buildings" in Camasunary - it does make the path to Sligachan hard to miss.
