Description
Tractor Trail climbs through the redwood forest, from
Hihn's Mill Road to
Ridge Trail on a high ridge. It is typically used as part of longer runs and to access the sections of
Flow Trail, which it crosses several times. To get to Tractor Trail from the Highland Way parking area, take
Hihn's Mill Road for just over 3.7 miles. Tractor Trail is on the left at a well-marked trail junction.
Tractor Trail climbs steadily at a moderate grade, through the redwoods, from start to finish. The forest is dense, so there are not many opportunites for views, however the sunlight beams through the trees and it is a very pretty forest. The trail is wide and smooth for its first 1.25 miles. The
Flow Trail is crossed three times, at the 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7 mile marks. Then on the left at the 0.85 mile mark is
Logging Spur - Tractor/Flow Trail Connector that can take one to two more
Flow Trail crossings.
Flow Trail is popular with mountain bikers coming downhill, so watch carefully to avoid getting run over.
Around the 1.25 mile mark, Tractor Trail becomes a narrower singletrack trail for its final climb to the high ridge where it ends at a trail junction with
Ridge Trail. This trail junction is at the 2.5 mile mark along
Ridge Trail.
