Overview
The Nature Trail is a great, weaving trail through the forest which accesses Myakka's famous
Canopy Walkway which towers above the trees.
Need to Know
Leashed dogs are allowed on the trail, but they are not allowed on the
Canopy Walkway.
Description
The trail is a loop so it can be taken in either direction. There are a variety of interpretive signs throughout to introduce you to the flora and fauna of the area. There are two small bridges that you'll cross over and multiple mini-spur trails to view small ponds where wading birds, including roseate spoonbills, may be feeding.
Using the
Canopy Walkway can allow you to run figure-eights of the trail or even just use this as a warm-up for any of the much longer trails in this beauty-filled state park. The walkway features a series of 100 stairs and climbs up into the forest canopy, allowing you gain a different vantage point.
Flora & Fauna
Deer, turkey, and a variety of birds.
