Description

Rumsey Trail connects Sheldon Trail in the lower Core Arboretum with Nuttall Trail, Service Road, and the Melvin Brown Trail. In the lower part of the arboretum, this trail is mostly flat, paralleling the Caperton Trail rail trail as it passes through a forest populated by large sycamores, maple, walnut, and locust with pawpaw and numerous wildflowers in the understory. Heading uphill as it crosses Service Road, Rumsey Trail begins to ascend steeply up a deep ravine carved by a seasonally flowing stream until it reaches the junction with Melvin Brown Trail. Combine this trail with other trails in the Core Arboretum to create numerous running loops in this urban forest retreat.
