Overview
Make sure you take some pictures at Indian Wells Overlook, and enjoy the peaceful marsh!
Need to Know
Very wet year-round. Rocky ridges, so watch your footing!
Description
You can start this loop at either of the two Bear Meadows parking lots. Depending on which you choose, you can either start right on the
Bear Meadows Loop trail, or the
Jean Aron Path.
The first section of the trail is usually very wet (wear waterproof boots!), as you start circling the marsh.
You'll then turn left onto
Gettis Trail, which marks the beginning of a steep ascent. You'll eventually meet up with the Mid-State Trail. Make sure you turn right onto the trail. You'll stay on the Mid-State for a while, crossing a road and passing numerous offshoot trails. Eventually you'll end up on rocky ridge called Indian Wells. Stop and take in the view!
Continue on the Mid-State until you reach
Kettle Trail on your right. Take the steep downhill trail (very steep, you might want trekking poles). At the bottom you'll come upon
Lonberger Path. Turn right onto the trail, and this will eventually reach an access road. You are now back at one of the parking lots! Continue on the
Jean Aron Path if you parked in the other lot.
