Runner Notes
It is possible to run on this trail, especially if you are staying in Ely Lake County Campground and you are looking for another running trail. The trail is flat and clear of obstacles, so there is no problem.
Description
From the red gate to Crooked Lake, the trail is in great shape, and the tread is clear to follow and flat. The trail traverses through a nicely wooded area with numerous bird sounds including honking. A little trail work is needed to complete the loop, but that doesn't interfere with getting to Crooked Lake. Trail may be damp in February, March, and April closer to Crooked Lake with seasonal rains. There is still area to run, but you may have to go a little off trail to avoid mud.
Flora & Fauna
Woods are on both sides of the trail, so trees galore.
