Wilderness restrictions apply. Although open year-round, access during the winter may be limited due to snow. There is a self-issuing permit system at the trailhead that backpackers and runners are mandated to fill out.

Description

The first three miles of the trail are straightforward and easy, with slightly undulating topography and minor, small stream crossings. Just after crossing the much larger Rolling Creek, the Wilderness boundary is reached. After mile three, however, a steep climb up the Rolling Creek drainage awaits. As you climb you'll find yourself in a relatively tight canyon-like environment that is not recommended for horses or other stock.

As you near near the end of the climb, the views open to The Castle and other stunning granite features that are common in the Lost Creek Wilderness. After reaching the high point of the trail, descend into the Wigwam drainage and the trail terminates at the Wigwam Trail #609.
