Description

Starting and ending on trails within Coyote Lake - Harvey Bear Ranch County Park, Townsprings Trail is typically mixed with other trails for a run in the park. Therefore, one may begin this trail at either the starting point or ending point shown in this description, depending on the route of the entire run. There are many possibilities.

In this description, Townsprings Trail starts from Willow Springs Trail, about one mile from the parking area at the Harvey Bear Ranch Entrance to the park. Townsprings Trail is on the open, grass-covered west side of Coyote Ridge. Scattered stands of oaks can be found, especially around the seasonal streams. The golden grass hills of summer and autumn turn bright green in the winter and spring.

From Willow Springs Trail, Townsprings Trail is basically flat for the first 0.4 miles as it crosses a couple seasonal streams. In the spring, the bright yellow mustard grows high here. Purple milk thistle also thrives here. And there are cows.

At about the 0.4 mile mark, Townsprings Trail begins gently climbing the grassy western side of Coyote Ridge. Another shaded seasonal stream is passed at the 1.0-mile mark. Continuing upward, Townsprings Trail meets Harvey Bear Trail after 1.4 miles, and ends here at the Harvey Bear Trail.

Flora & Fauna
