Description
Valley Oak Trail goes from the drive-in campground area to the boat launch area. It parallels the road but is far enough from the road to not see or hear it. It is a very pretty trail through the woods and meadows with wildflowers in the spring. Basically flat, it is very easy to run and is great for families with little kids.
To find Valley Oak Trail, from the drive-in campground, take
Campground Trail for 0.2 miles to Valley Oak Trail. Turn right onto Valley Oak Trail. Almost immediately, Valley Oak Trail enters the sunlit woods and winds through them. After about 0.6 miles, the woods thin into open meadow and views of Coyote Lake are reached. The trail crosses the meadow to re-enter woods, only to come out of them again at another meadow at the
Ohlone Trail junction at the 1.1 mile mark.
Ohlone Trail leads to the popular boat launch and picnic area, 0.2 miles away.
Shortly after passing
Ohlone Trail, Valley Oak Trail ends at
Calaveras Trail.
Flora & Fauna
Deer roam the oak woods and grass meadows. Wildflowers bloom here in the spring.
