Description
An enjoyable, rocky and well-paced trail that ascends the lower ridge of Jonathan's Woods and ends in the historic Hog Pen crag. The trail starts at the parking area off Old Beach Glen Road in a section of the park called "The Pines" or "Cathedral Pines".
Follow the red blazes down the wide gravel trail. Make a left after the stream (less than 0.25 miles), and follow it up and into the woods. The red blazes are relatively easy to follow.
The trail will come in contact with the Curtis Trail (Red/White),
Hillcrest Trail (Blue), Old
Beach Glen Trail (Orange), Muffy's Loop (Purple),
Ridge-Mudhole Trail (Yellow), and
Loren's Loop (Pink). The trail ends by descending into the Hog Pen which is a notable rocky crag with a wood sign attached to a tree with the name "Hog Pen". From here, you can continue via
Loren's Loop (Pink).
