Overview
This easy run is a great option for a quick outing or for a family trip. With a stop by Hooker Falls, Triple Falls, and High Falls, there is plenty to see along this 3 mile route.
Description
The run starts out with a short side trip to Hooker Falls along the
Hooker Falls Trail. This is a nearly flat trail that almost qualifies as a suburban path. There are minimal tripping hazards, so you can casually run along the bank of the river to the falls. While the falls are less than impressive in stature, they are interesting because they span the entire width of the river. There is an observation platform at the end of the trail, adjacent to the falls.
From the end of the
Hooker Falls Trail, retrace your steps, and head out on the
Triple Falls Trail for waterfall number two. This is also a very smooth trail that is well traveled by visitors on their way to to view the trail's namesake Triple Falls. The trail is well-marked to guide visitors to the waterfall views.
Once past the fall, the trail continues through a pleasant woodland section until coming to a junction with the
High Falls Trail where you'll want to head east. Shortly after this, you'll come to a junction with the
Covered Bridge Trail which you'll want to take for a different vantage point of the High Falls.
After a short out-and-back spur on the
Covered Bridge Trail, continue along the
High Falls Trail which will follow along the river with one particularly nice viewpoint of High Falls through an opening in the trees. There is a fairly constant stream of hikers and runners on this trail, so please be courteous to your fellow visitors. The trail is well-marked with signs leading to the falls.
