Description
This simple trail starts just across from the parking area next to Campsite 46 in the White Deer Reach Camping Loop. It is signed at the road as "Nature Hike", but is labeled on the state park map and on the trail as the White Deer Trail. This trail is a perfect quick run for small children or apprehensive runners. It only travels a short distance before you are presented with your only directional choice: right or left?
As this is a short loop, either way will bring you back to the beginning of the trail. There is a lot of foliage, with some of it encroaching on the double wide dirt path, as well as some low-hanging branches. Keep an eye out for exposed roots that like to grab the toes of little ones. Overall, this is a nice trail that travels under the shade of the thick canopy above.
Flora & Fauna
There are plenty of opportunities to see both wildlife and bird life along this short trail. Snakes do lurk in these woods, as well as poison ivy, so stick to the marked paths.
