Need to Know
The trail is not well-worn as it is new, but there are still plenty of orange ribbons marking the route. There are also the standard red and yellow "turtle" trail markers along the trail.
Description
This new trail starts at the Route 117 parking lot to the left of
Sawyer Mountain Trail. It follows an old road past the to intersections with the
Nature Trail and then climbs through the forest up the flank of John Douglass Mountain. The trail weaves through young forest and crosses a few small brooks before heading up to the High Pasture of Ebeneezer Walter. The trail skirts around private property and passes through gaps in old stone walls before heading easily down slope to where it crosses
New Skidway Road. After crossing the "new" road, it climbs moderately up Sawyer Mountain and ends at the intersection with
Sawyer Summit Trail about 0.3 miles from the summit.
