Description
The quickest access to the trail is the Powissett Street trailhead parking lot. From the parking lot, enter the trail following the blue blazes to an intersection (#25); intersections are numbered in this trail system. The trail system has many unnamed trails. Be sure to keep track of the blazes to stay on trail. At the #25 intersection, make a left which will take you to a right turn and put you on the main Peabody Loop. Additionally, this intersection will provide access to the
Larabee Trail (orange blaze).
The Peabody Loop is a doubletrack trail that is mostly level through the majority of the loop going clockwise. The trail touches the
Noanet Peak Trail (yellow blaze) and
Caryl Loop (red blaze) trails. Near the intersection with these two trails is the Dam and Mill site. Take a detour and check it out.
This is where the majority of the climb on the trail begins. It climbs and descends just as quickly over rolling terrain. At the bottom of the descent is the end of the loop, where you'll make a left to get back to the Powissett Street parking lot.
