Need to Know
Micro-Spikes are recommended when the trail is icy.
Description
The Cascade Link Trail is a turn-off from the commonly runed
White Dot Trail, and will be found on the right hand side once you reach about 1840 ft in elevation, or 0.8 miles into the trail
White Dot Trail. The Cascade Link Trail will avoids the steeper sections of the
White Dot Trail, and is recommended for those looking for a safer route up to and off of the peak. After leaving the initial trail, you'll need to turn left after 0.1 miles, which will keep you on the correct trail. You'll know you're going the correct way when you need to cross the Ark Brook. Continue along the trail to meet up with the
Red Spot Trail (0.4 miles from the left hand turn), and the
Spellman Trail (0.2 miles after the
Red Spot Trail). Both will turn up the mountain to the left. The Cascade Link Trail will continue up for another 0.7 miles until you intersect with the
Pumpelly Trail. Make a hard left and continue past Town Line Peak (2884') all the way to the peak of Mount Monadnock (3165 ft).
This route is recommended for the down-climb during winter conditions, as it provides a much more gradual elevation change.
