The trail is marked by a sign just off the road as you round one of the bends. There are many down, burnt out trees over the trail that you either have to make your way around or over at times, but are easily managed.

Along the way, there are many wildflowers (at least in the spring), and great views of the lake below. For the top fifth of the trail you are in a forest with large trees, which is a great contrast to the lower part of the trail. The summit of the mountain is a peak that juts out abruptly and treeless, yielding amazing views. The footing up the summit is very steep and loose, so ensure that you have good, solid shoes.
