Need to Know
When coming from Dimon Road the trail will end at the beaver pond. You'll need to head downstream and find a way across the outflow. Once across the outflow head straight south until you hit the
Red Maple Trail. Take the
Red Maple Trail back to the left to find Brinks Road and the AT.
Note: it is worth the time to check out Brinks Road from both sides of the beaver pond. Quite an interesting site.
Description
Forty years ago this section of the park was crisscrossed by paved roads, which the park blocked off and left to deteriorate. Brinks Road, like
Woods Road, is one of these old roads which today make for nice trails in the woods. There are sections where macadam can still be seen under the leaves.
Brinks Road connects
Woods Road near the AT at Brinks shelter to Dimon Road not far from Tillman Ravine. Additionally the
Shay Trail ends at Brinks Road.
Between the end of the
Shay Trail and
Woods Road there is a large, active beaver pond submerging Brinks Road which one must bushwhack around.
