Description
Maconde is a famous rock spur on the southern edge of Mauritius that has been cut to allow the coastal road to pass through. This results in a narrow jut of rock and a very tight bend in the road. A trail consisting mostly of stairs has been constructed on the southern part of the rock that juts out into the ocean. A small platform at the end of the trail offers exceptional views of the southern coast, surrounding corals, Maconde itself, the famous bend in the road, and in the distance Le Morne Barbant. The viewpoint can be very crowded.
Parking is right off of the road on either side of Maconde.
