Runner Notes
You would have to be super-human to actually run this entire route. (If you stop or walk at any point along the way, then I call fowl!) Nevertheless, it would be an epic hike, and it may actually not be too hard to run the route in reverse.
Description
Good route finding is needed when approaching Grandview Peak from this direction as the trail is not always clear. Take care to note the ridge switch up above Rudy's Flat for the return trip (if coming back the way you came.) Otherwise, you may end up going down the wrong ridge.
If returning down the center of City Creek Canyon, be wary of moose, mountain lions, and hunters. You can take a north fork of City Creek Canyon to regain the ridge at Rudy's Flat. The trail starts just up the canyon a few yards from campsite 23. The trail is well worn and easy to follow.
