Description
The trail begins at the K'esugi Ken Campground. The trail is well maintained and is lined with gravel for the first half of the run. The entire trail is wide enough that it makes it easy to pass those moving slower on busy days.
The switchbacks help make the trail easy enough that my kids, ranging from 5-10, had no issue getting to the top without much complaint. We also had our dog and it was nice that the trail was full of small stream crossings that she could jump in to cool down. Plenty of amazing wildflowers lined the trail to the top. We weren't lucky enough to get glimpses of moose on the trail, but they are certainly around as many have reported seeing them as well as the occasional bear.
The best part about the trail was the incredible views of Denali that you got just about the entire run. Once to the top of the ridge, there is a small lake in a depression of the ridge. One way is the view of Denali and the other a clearing with a lake. This is a great place to run and camp for the night.
