Runner Notes

There's a curious spur trail of this trail high up on the ridge that leads to a campsite nestled in the evergreens on the north side. There's lots of equipment cached there, including pick axes, pots, pans, chairs, etc. Leave what you find.

Description

The idea here is to run up the trail from the Parrish Creek Trailhead all the way to Sky-Line Drive, enjoy the view, and then run all the way back down. The run back down is very enjoyable. I cannot stress how beautiful this area is in the height of autumn.

Get on Parrish Lane in Centerville and head east towards the mountains as far as you can. Before the road bends south, see the small, paved road going north. This goes to the trailhead which is directly across from the fire-break road.

Be careful to look both ways before crossing this road. Also, this winding road up to the trailhead is a bit narrow, so watch for oncoming traffic.
